Mental loads are heavy

Consider this your permission slip to automate the tiny things.

Confession: When I first started out, I told my prospective clients they'd have their contract and invoice by the end of the week.

Not because I had a process or anything like that. But because I was trying to procrastinate it for as long as I could.

I don't know why??? In theory this was new money??? Why was I delaying it???

But I dreaded setting up the contract. I didn't want to create the invoice or payment link. And then after that I had to w r i t e an email to them with the details? Fuck outta here.

Would it take me all of 10 minutes to do? Yes.

Did I hate it anyway? Yes.

Did it weigh heavy in the back of my mind the entire week while I delayed the inevitable? Also yes.

Could I have just gotten it over and done with? Yes. In theory. So, no.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

Mental and emotional loads are heavy.

Whether it's weighing on your to do list or it's weighing on your mind, it's weighing on you.

Maybe they're tiny tasks. Maybe they're something like sending a contract or an invoice (šŸ™‹šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø). Sending follow-up emails. Making a folder. Copy-pasting files from A to B.

They're annoying. Sure. But it shouldn't be that hard, right?

But what if it is though?

Because if a 2-minute task takes us one week to do, did it really only take 2 minutes?

So again, this is your permission slip to automate the tiny, annoying (!) things

The ones that feel "too small" to automate. The ones that clear your mind more than they clear your to do list.

To have a system that allows you to put down your brain and cross the items off your to-think list.

As for me, I built myself a lil contract and invoice generator! I plug some details into Airtable and it takes care of the rest, including signing links, reminder emails, follow-ups.

Did it take me a couple hours to build just so I could save a few minutes? Maybe.

Was it worth it? Absolutely.
